National Lutheran Council

Aus VolynWiki

There were 3 Lutheran Synods active in Western Canada during the early part of the 20th century, the Manitoba Synod of the General Council, the Ohio Synod, and the Missouri Synod; the early Ohio and Missouri Pastors were trained in the United States, where as (generally speaking) most of the early Pastors for the General Council often came from Germany and all were graduates from the Seminary at Kropp.

The "Synodal-Versammlungen" gathered in 1918 in Wetaskiwin, Alberta; 1919 in Kennell and 1921 in Edenwald, Saskatchewan, Canada. The Praeses from 1917 onward was H. (Heinrich?) BECKER and the Schatzmeister was G. L. MARON and as well G. TÜRKHEIM was the Sekretaer.

The minutes of these Synodal meeting should be available from the Lutheran Archives in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.

Archives at the seminary in Gettysburg, Pa. That archives is the repository of material from the General Synod. Their inventory lists holding volumes for 1913 and 1914, as well as 1917, 1919 and 1921. They are also missing the volume for 1918, and it appears that no conventions were held in 1915, 1916, and 1920.
